Review highlights
Based on 192 reviewsRestaurant Hock Huat 福发茶室 in Teluk Intan is recognized for its fresh, home-cooked seafood dishes, particularly steamed fish, stir-fried lala, and squid, which patrons often describe as fresh and flavorful. The eatery offers a no-frills, coffee shop ambiance with affordable pricing, making it a popular spot among locals. Staff friendliness receives mixed feedback, with younger employees praised for their hospitality while some patrons note less welcoming behavior from others. The menu is relatively limited but focused on quality seafood and simple vegetable sides. Parking can be challenging during peak hours, but overall, the restaurant is appreciated for delivering good value without compromising on taste or freshness.
This humble place has probably been existed in this area for more than 20 years. They serve fresh seafood with homemade style. Their signature stir fried lala (clamps), stir fried squid and steamed fish. I personally love their squid + fish, tasted fresh like just out of water. We also ordered Chinese spinach and to our surprise it was thoroughly cleaned without any trace of sand (usually that happen to most of the restaurants). 4 dishes cost us about RM75 which was reasonable. Will definitely come back again.
Have a wonderful dinner at this no-nonsense place. Coffee-shop environment but the food was great. The young man who took our order was honest with his suggestions. Value for money. Fish and squid were fresh. Bitter gourd fried egg was delicious. 3 adults plus 2 white rice for RM67 only.
the lady boss was not so friendly. She kept pestling us to buy her fried prawn crackers. After we rejected her offer, she was apparently annoyed. Other than that, food was tasty. I personally found the bittergourd egg was nothing to shout about. It just that there was little selection of seafood. The food pricing was very very reasonable.
Super friendly staff (young chap). Many locals are here for dinner too. Home cook style, did not detect msg. Delicious meal. Pricing very affordable too.
Location No issue if it's at city centre or not. Not congested but not sure if peak season. Parking Depend the time but maybe a bit further if during lunch hours or dinner maybe. Price Some seafood raw material is follow season, but overall at this place will not be hike up, Just order the steam fish and the big head prawn. Fish and prawn is consider fresh, that is good, the prawn type of cook is standard fixed to follow only.
Love the 干煎虾and steam fish head. Reasonable price.
Great place to have Chinese food. Although the shop doesn't look grand but the food definitely is. Fish is fresh. Steam fish taste great, the sauce goes well with it and not salty. They use grouper fish. Lala is fresh and nice too. Stir fry egg with bitter gourd is one of their signature and it's nice too. Basically all of their dishes that I've tried are nice. Price is cheap. 2 person ordered steam fish body, lala, big head prawn, bitter gourd egg and kangkung, just a little over RM60.
All the way from Penang and arrived at Liew Kee Chee Cheong Fun around 6pm. Tau Geh Ma recommended us to have our dinner here, she told us we must order their stir fried bitter gourd with egg. This shop is just within 10min driving distance from Liew Kee. It is a corner shoplot and it is crowded with local people. Parking lot is available along the road in front of their store. Their bitter groud is superb, no single taste of bitter. They serve a very delicious and crispy Kong Pao Mantis Shrimp, the sauce tasted sweet and not spicy. Further their steam grouper fish is fresh, their stir fried potato leaves also good. Above-mentioned dishes + a pot of tea for 5 only cost at Rm79++, not even Rm80. It consider very cheaper for us who stay in KL. Definitely will come again if passby telok intan.
